# Signals

> Evidence-backed observations Superhawk raises about your accounts.

A signal is one specific, evidence-backed observation about an account. Not a score, not a summary -- a single claim you can act on or dismiss.

> Contract creation has fallen 49% quarter on quarter, with none created this month.

> The economic buyer named on the deal has left the company.

> They asked for a Salesforce integration on three consecutive calls.

Signals are detected continuously across every connected source. They are what turns a quiet account into a specific thing to do something about.

## What a signal carries

| Field | What it is |
| ------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------- |
| **Title and description** | The claim, in plain words |
| **Severity** | `info`, `warning`, or `critical` |
| **Direction** | `churn`, `upsell`, or `neutral` |
| **Account** | Which customer it is about |
| **Evidence** | The calls, tickets, metrics, or records behind it |
| **Status** | Where it is in its lifecycle |

**Direction is as important as severity.** A critical churn signal and a critical upsell signal both demand attention and lead to completely different conversations.

## Where signals come from

* **Usage and metrics** -- a defined metric crossing a threshold or trend
* **Calls** -- what stakeholders actually said
* **Support tickets** -- escalations, volume, recurring themes
* **Email** -- responsiveness and who has dropped out of the thread
* **CRM** -- stage, value, owner, and renewal changes
* **External sources** -- funding rounds, executive changes, and other public company events

## Where to see them

* **The Signals page** -- everything across the portfolio, filterable by severity, direction, account, and status
* **The account page** -- the signals on one customer
* **The Inbox** -- signals that warranted a task, with the task already drafted
* **Briefs** -- signals relevant to a meeting you are about to take

## Working signals

**Triage by direction first, then severity.** Your churn list and your expansion list are different pieces of work with different owners.

**Always open the evidence.** A signal is a claim. The evidence is why you should believe it, and it is usually what you will actually quote in the customer conversation.

**Dismiss what does not apply.** A dismissed signal is information, not failure. It stops the same observation resurfacing and it keeps the list trustworthy.
